As a homeowner, there are several ways via which you can avoid a bedbug infestation in your home. Some of these ways are highlighted below;
- Staying overnight in any place apart from yours is a good way to invite bed bugs to your homes. If you are spending the night in a hotel, motel or any other lodging place, inspect the sleeping area thoroughly and ensure your luggage and clothing do not get infested.
- Thoroughly inspect any item that comes into your home, most especially on a first-time basis. Furniture, clothing, toys, and appliances could all be harbor bed bugs.
- Each time you replace your bedding, inspect your bed for any signs of bed bugs. Some humans don’t react to bites; it, therefore, means that physical sightings are one effective way to locate bed bugs at home
- Upon returning from overnight trips, wash your clothing immediately in hot water. Also, keep all bags and luggage in places where you least spend time like your garage or better still, wrap them in a plastic bag. If you have any items that cannot be washed, place them in a dryer and heat for 30 minutes under the highest heat setting. Bed bugs are killed on exposure to high temperature for a long duration of time.
