How long do Bed Bugs live? Just as their name implies, bed bugs love to live around beds, hiding under box springs, seams of mattresses, under carpets and between folds of sheets.
Other hiding spots for bed bugs are in crevices, books, photo frames, hollow bed posts, and more.
Bed Bugs Lifespan
Bed bugs have an average lifespan of 7 to 12 months depending on the prevailing temperature. They mature in 45 days and feed for about 10 minutes every 5 to 10 days. Bed bugs are attracted to their victims through sensations such as exhaled carbon dioxide and body heat.
Bed bugs can live more than a year without feeding on a host, but the span of time that adults and nymphs typically survive without a host is six months. This means that it is important to continue to check for the presence of bed bugs if you suspect you have them as they can survive without feeding for quite some time.
When you see insect skin shells or reddish-brown stains on your bed, upholstery or any other place close to your bed, they may be signs of bed bug infestation. Read More… CDC Bed Bug FAQ
